A&A Intentions For A New Year | RV Living

End of Week #84

Neapolitan Cove RV Resort, Naples FL

Miles traveled since last week's post = 0 miles

Total miles traveled to date = 11,997 with trailer

Welcome to 2021! Time has slowed down again, and it feels like we are catching our breath. We are about a fourth of the way through our stay in Naples and we are taking more time to enjoy this winter in Florida. The beach has been a little hard to come by so far, as there has been red tide warnings in Naples, but tomorrow we are going to take our chances and try to go to Marco Island again! (The first time we tried we struck out because there was no parking available.) Our hope is that things are starting to die down in terms of out of town travelers since the holidays are over. On Thursday we are also going to travel down to Everglades City and check out an airboat tour through the Everglades, Everglades National Park, and Big Cypress National Preserve. More to come on those!

I keep having to remind myself that it's January... as January has historically meant horribly cold and miserable weather for us in the great state of Minnesota. After two winters away from the cold, it's also hard to imagine going back to it! January used to be my least favorite time of the year, aside from the idea of a fresh beginning, and now it is the exact opposite as I find myself in the most tropical state of the USA. I am still fully embracing a new beginning in every way possible, from my workouts, to my goals, and my entire outlook on life. But I've never been a big resolutions person, and instead a huge intentions person. I think it's important to still declare what you are focusing on or what kind of energy you want to carry into the new year!

Here is a list of some of the most important ones we will be focusing on throughout our next year of RV living:

A&A Intentions For A New Year

We will write down our goals, and continue to live consciously.

I already feel so much more goal oriented and organized (when it comes to RV life) this year than I did this time last year. Last year we went into things with so many unknowns, even before the pandemic hit. We didn't exactly know where we were going, or how it was all going to work. We didn't even know we were going to be doing our first workamping job until early February when we first applied and interviewed. This year is so much different - we are driven, we are goal diggin', and we are living with intention! Our goals are set for 2021 and we will continue to add more to them as the year carries on. We are living in the moment, and pursuing every conscious experience we can.

We will not share our joy with those who do not reciprocate the energy.

Nothing to be said against last year, but this year will be different - we will be stronger. We will not entertain low vibrational energy and we will not participate in it. We will not share our joy with those who can not share their own joy back with us! A majority of everyone we meet and interact with around the country is nothing short of amazing, but that is not always the case everywhere we go. We will also not engage with any low vibrational energy from those we are already close with or know personally - this year it is higher level living only!

We will be filled with laughter; alive and invigorated.

I think it goes without being said that people's mental health took a real hit in 2020 - mine included. Too many moments passed by where I did not feel happiness, or experience laughter. I didn't feel alive the way I wanted to. The world was too heavy to hold and life was too uncertain. This year, we will vow to rise above all of life's uncertainties and seize every moment to be healthy, happy, and invigorated - no matter what. Life is just too short for anything else, and there is no time like the present. We went into this lifestyle to feel alive, and we sure as hell won't be letting all the crazy shenanigans in the world bring us down!

We will trust all redirection.

Words can't even express how much redirection 2020 brought to us, to everyone. Pre covid we changed travel plans before travel plans changed on us, and we pursued a job, that at the time, we didn't know how badly we were going to need to seek refuge in. We never ended up making it back through our home state of Minnesota like we desired and we had no idea where the end of the year was going to take us after we did get through our commitment in California. Let alone, we didn't even know if we were going to get to work in California or not. Redirection was all around us and there were a lot of instances that we were resistant to it, and probably me more so than Adam. (He is already annoyingly good at trusting redirection.) But this year I refuse to partake in the fear that comes with a new plan. This entire experience since the first days of planning has been nothing but one big unknown, and I need to remind myself why I choose to embrace it. Redirection is not a bad thing, it is not without a higher purpose. Every huge change of plans we have ever had has always ended up being the right one. We are after all, A&A Destination Unknown.

We will be more at ease, more grounded, and more connected with our highest good.

Adam and I have more purpose this year, I can already feel it. We have learned a lot from 2020, a lot more than we bargained for, and I think we have come out of it a lot stronger than we were before. As two typically not calm people (LOL), I feel we are becoming more grounded in our ways, our life on the road, and who we are together and apart. We are a team, on a mission together, but we are also on individual paths to our own highest good. Every day we are more at ease with the unknowns, the places we haven't been, and the things that can come up along the way. We trust our own abilities to handle situations, figure things out, and learn all the right lessons in the end.

We will lean into our personal needs.

This doesn't just mean we will rest when we need to rest, as we already do a pretty good job of taking breaks as they are needed and finding the right balance to our lifestyle. Leaning into your own personal needs is so much deeper than that - it means you will listen to your body, the kind of food you eat, the physical activity you choose to participate in. It means you will listen to and honor your emotions, space when you need it, a phone call with a loved one when you need it, etc. For Adam and I, it means we will work closer together to honor each other's space and personal freedom, as living together 24/7 in a tiny space can sometimes feel restrictive or suffocating. This isn't generally a problem for us, but the longer we spend living this way the more important it is to stay in tune with each others needs so that we can both continue to grow along the way.

We will foster deeper connections with like-minded souls.

Our lifestyle is already focused on the deeper meanings in life and none of that will change as we enter a new year. We will continue to connect with like minded souls on the internet, in person, on hikes, in campgrounds, at jobs - all across the United States. I personally will be exploring more avenues to dig even deeper, through social media, my blog and in person connections with other RVers and the RV community. I hope to meet in person some of the people I have grown close to online over the past several years. And I hope to meet more people who see the world from my perspective and do what they can to live life on their own terms.

We will show up as our full authentic selves, no matter the setting.

I can't think of one good reason why I, or anyone else I know, should dim their light. I can't think of any reason why I would ever want to show up as less than my full self. I am a firm believer that if you are too much for some people than those are not your people. You can never be too much, you can only be you. This world does not need more people who act the same, it needs people who aren't afraid to show up as their whole selves, no matter what society thinks of them. And Adam and I are those people. We do not need to apologize for who we are, how we live, or what we do. This is us, and we are whole.

We will prioritize our health, our happiness, and our adventures.

As always, and it almost goes without being said, but I will say it anyway: this is our one life to live, our one chance to follow our dreams and to live life how we would rather be living it. The most important things for us are to be happy, and to experience new things. We will continue to nourish our bodies well, even more so than before, and we will say yes to all new and exciting experiences. We will follow the path that life takes us on and never waste a moment of it. We will pursue every adventure that comes our way and say yes to all the things we never thought we would want to say yes to. We are firm believers that it is incredibly important to prioritize yourself, and your own peace, above all else.

This year, 2021, will be exactly what we make of it. If 2020 taught us all anything it's that we can't hold on to expectations for how things should go - instead we have to remain open to everything and attached to nothing. We have to have the ability to pivot. We have to find ways to seek joy and optimism, or we won't own the year - the year will own us. And I'm sure we can all agree we don't want something like that to happen, again!

Happy new dreams.

Happy new days.

Happy new desires.

Happy new ways.

Happy new year.

Happy new YOU.
